Tethered is a collaborative exhibition by Newcastle-based artists Ree Hodges and Prudence De Marchi, exploring the beauty found in contrast, connection, and imperfection.

Through 22 original artworks, Tethered brings together two distinct artistic voices in a collection that leans into raw texture, layered colour, and expressive mark-making. It’s a body of work that embraces difference and celebrates the emotional, intuitive nature of creating — from bold, moody landscapes to soft, spontaneous abstractions.

Inspired by the natural world and the shifting emotional landscapes within us, Tethered is a reflection of how things that don’t quite match can still belong — how artworks, like people, can be deeply connected while remaining entirely their own.

We didn’t want to over-direct the work. We wanted freedom — to be guided by instinct, memory, colour, and texture. Sometimes that led to softness, sometimes to boldness. Both felt right.”
